Pineapple season is a very short time in Mozambique. Milange is one of the fortunate places in the country to have pineapples. Since, the season is so short, you don’t want to be looking like a Westerner cutting it up in nice little cubes and placing it in a Tupperware container. Follow these easy steps and you will be on your way to eating a pineapple just like a local.
3. Trim down some of the stem. This will allow you to be able to grip the pineapple when you eat it. 4. Cut off the end of the pineapple. There will be a sneak peak of the snack you are about to enjoy.
6. Hold onto the trimmed stem and munch on the entire pineapple. Rotate the pineapple as you eat it. For a closest comparison it is best to imagine someone eating a turkey leg or corn on the cob. (I had fun with these selfies)
Congratulations! You are now on your way to acting more like the local people of Mozambique.
Most people in Mozambique do not have a refrigerator, freezer, or Tupperware. Therefore, they must consume the entirety of the pineapple before it goes bad. They do not let anything going to waste here.
